Senior Digital Development Officer

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Digital Development Officer to lead the development and publication of Best Start in Life Family Hubs digital offer.

The role will help create a single, accessible digital route for parents and carers to find information, identify the right support and access services more easily. You will make sure the digital offer is accurate, accessible and organised around the needs of families. This will include identifying and resolving problems such as confusing routes, duplicated information, broken links and content that is no longer current.

This fixed-term role has been created to support the Department for Education’s Best Start in Life Strategy. During the contract, you will provide digital leadership and specialist advice, bringing together information from council services and partner organisations to improve the overall online experience for families.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will

• Lead the development and implementation of the Best Start in Life Family Hubs online portfolio of content.
• Help deliver a single, accessible digital front door through which families can find relevant information and support.
• Oversee the creation, editing, approval and publication of content using the council’s content management system and other web-based platforms.
• Work with council services and external partners to connect information, resolve access or data-flow issues and improve digital journeys.
• Make sure content is appropriate for its intended audience and meets accessibility, metadata and corporate web standards.
• Oversee Family Hub directories, investigating data-quality and integrity issues and advising information owners on improvements.
• Monitor how digital content is being used, assess trends and present clear findings and recommended actions to senior leaders and service leads.
• Produce guidance and provide briefings and training for colleagues who contribute content to Family Hub digital platforms.

What We’re Looking For

You will need to demonstrate

• Significant experience of publishing content across a range of digital platforms.
• Extensive practical experience of using a content management system.
• A strong understanding of website guidance, accessibility standards and web information architecture.
• Experience of monitoring digital usage, platform performance and data integrity.
• The ability to diagnose complex issues, anticipate problems and recommend practical solutions.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience of presenting information and delivering training.
• The confidence to guide and influence colleagues and managers, including at senior level.
• The ability to build effective relationships with internal services, external partners and suppliers while managing changing demands and competing priorities.

Experience of working in local government and a digital media or management qualification would be helpful, but these are not essential.
