The WordPress Developer will be responsible for front-end development, theming, and back-end development.
We are seeking a WordPress Developer responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). The candidate should have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems. Experience with the responsive and adaptive design is required. Also, an understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development, and deployment is required.
WordPress Developer Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Collaborate effectively with clients and other web designers during the creative process.
Designing and implementing new features and functionality
Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin.
Provide technical leadership and assume overall accountability for a successful implementation phase on all client projects.
Ensure technical solutions are properly architected and specified, and review all code for quality assurance purposes.
In partnership with technical leads, help set direction for our technology practice.
Lead and advance our growing WordPress practice.
Responsible for various aspects of ongoing support and maintenance engagements.
Partner with project managers and other web developers to successfully manage client relationships.
B.S. in Computer Science and 5+ years related experience.
Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
Extremely fluent with HTML5/XHTML and CSS3
Experience working with PHP, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and jQuery
Ability to write JavaScript with and without the use of frameworks such as jQuery
Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
Ability to understand CSS changes to have consistent style across platforms and browsers
Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial)
Strong experience in PHP back-end development
Thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (e.g. Requirements, Design, Development, Testing) and exposure to Agile or iterative SDLCs.
Able to work on a team or independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
Ability to conceptualize business and technical solutions and articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
Self-starters that can take loosely defined assignments and drive them to structured work.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
