About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Unity Developer with strong commercial mobile game development experience and a track record of shipping titles on iOS and Android.
You will play a key role in developing our mobile games, working closely with design, art, technical art, backend, and product teams to take features from concept through to release.
This is a hands-on senior position. You will be expected to write high-quality production code, make sound technical decisions, help solve complex development challenges and contribute to the overall architecture and quality of the project.
You should be comfortable owning significant features and systems while also supporting other developers and helping establish strong development practices across the team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and maintaining mobile games in Unity and C# for iOS and Android.
- Taking ownership of major gameplay features and technical systems from initial design through to release.
- Working closely with designers, artists and technical artists to turn ideas into performant, polished game features.
- Designing scalable, maintainable systems suitable for a live mobile product.
- Integrating backend services, APIs, analytics and third-party SDKs.
- Supporting online functionality, player accounts, progression and live game systems.
- Optimising CPU, GPU, memory, loading times and application size across a broad range of mobile devices.
- Profiling and debugging issues across both iOS and Android hardware.
- Contributing to architecture, coding standards and engineering best practices.
- Reviewing code and providing technical guidance to other developers.
- Helping improve development workflows, tools and build processes.
- Supporting releases, updates and ongoing development of live products.
- Working with QA and product teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Several years of professional game development experience, including experience at a senior level.
- Strong commercial experience developing games with Unity and C#.
- Proven experience shipping at least one commercial title, ideally multiple titles.
- Strong experience developing and releasing games for iOS and Android.
- Excellent understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming and common game development patterns.
- Strong knowledge of mobile performance optimisation, memory management and profiling.
- Experience integrating third-party SDKs, APIs and platform services.
- Good understanding of mobile platform requirements, build pipelines and submission processes.
- Experience working with version control, ideally Git.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively across engineering, design, art, QA and product disciplines.
- Able to take ownership of complex features and make pragmatic technical decisions.
Desirable
- Experience with PlayFab, particularly authentication, player data, cloud services, economy or live game functionality.
- Experience developing live-service or continuously updated mobile games.
- Experience with multiplayer or networked game systems.
- Experience integrating analytics, attribution, crash reporting and remote configuration platforms.
- Experience with Firebase or similar mobile backend services.
- Understanding of mobile monetisation systems, including in-app purchases and subscriptions.
- Experience with CI/CD and automated Unity build pipelines.
- Experience working on sports, action or casual mobile games.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical direction to other developers.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong engineering fundamentals with a practical understanding of shipping mobile games.
You should be comfortable owning technical decisions, but equally comfortable collaborating with specialists across the wider team. You will understand when to build a robust long-term solution and when a simpler, pragmatic approach is the right choice.
Most importantly, you will have experience taking real games through production and release, and understand the technical challenges involved in delivering a polished product across a wide range of mobile hardware.
