ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

We are working with a well-established national membership and campaigning organisation representing more than 100,000 members and supporters across the UK.

The organisation works across membership, campaigning, fundraising and commercial partnerships, with a strong focus on engaging supporters and delivering meaningful results for the communities it represents.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation where marketing plays an important role in growing membership, strengthening supporter engagement and supporting wider organisational objectives.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Marketing & Communications Manager to lead an integrated, audience-focused marketing programme across membership, campaigns, fundraising and commercial activity.

This is a hands-on marketing management role with genuine ownership and the opportunity to create structure, improve processes and make a measurable impact.

You will work closely with colleagues across digital, content, campaigns, fundraising and membership, as well as external agencies and partners.

You will not be expected to deliver every project alone. Instead, you will set the marketing plan, establish clear priorities and coordinate delivery across the wider team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Planning & Prioritisation

  • Own and maintain the integrated marketing plan and campaign calendar
  • Turn organisational objectives into clear marketing plans, briefs, channel strategies, budgets and timelines
  • Establish priorities, deadlines and measures of success
  • Manage competing priorities and make recommendations where necessary
  • Provide clear updates on progress, risks and opportunities

Integrated Campaigns & Communications

  • Lead the planning and evaluation of multi-channel campaigns across email, web, social, paid media, print, WhatsApp and partner channels
  • Develop audience strategies, propositions, messaging and calls to action
  • Coordinate campaign delivery across internal teams
  • Write and edit high-priority marketing and communications copy
  • Ensure communications are accurate, engaging, persuasive and on-brand
  • Introduce consistent briefing, approval and quality assurance processes

Membership & Supporter Growth

  • Lead marketing activity supporting membership acquisition, retention, renewal and reactivation
  • Develop test-and-learn programmes across audience, proposition, offer, creative, channel and timing
  • Improve supporter journeys from campaign engagement through to membership, donations and longer-term involvement
  • Support initiatives designed to increase member engagement and commercial return

CRM, Data & Performance

  • Develop audience segmentation, journey and reporting requirements across CRM and marketing systems
  • Work alongside digital and technical colleagues on data, tracking, integrations and platform development
  • Develop practical reporting and dashboards covering engagement, conversion, income, membership outcomes and ROI
  • Use data and insight to improve targeting, campaign performance and marketing investment
  • Share learnings and recommendations following key campaigns

Workflow & Supplier Management

  • Establish clear workflows, responsibilities and campaign handovers
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation
  • Brief and manage agencies, designers, printers and media suppliers where required
  • Manage agreed marketing budgets and supplier performance
  • Ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard

Partnership Marketing

  • Work with the Commercial Director on member offers, sponsorships and commercial partnerships
  • Develop joint campaign plans that deliver value for partners and members
  • Monitor partnership activity and identify opportunities to improve engagement and commercial return

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded marketer who can take ownership, create structure and confidently manage multiple priorities.

You will ideally have

  • At least 5 years' relevant experience in marketing, communications or audience growth
  • Strong experience delivering integrated, multi-channel campaigns
  • A proven track record of turning broad objectives into clear plans and measurable results
  • Experience in acquisition, retention, subscription, membership, customer or supporter marketing
  • Good understanding of CRM-led marketing, segmentation, automation, testing and campaign measurement
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and briefing skills
  • Strong project and stakeholder management experience
  • Experience working collaboratively with junior or delivery-focused colleagues
  • Commercial awareness and confidence working with budgets, conversion metrics and ROI
  • A calm, organised and collaborative approach
  • The confidence to take ownership while knowing when to seek support or escalate issues

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

The following would be advantageous

  • Experience within a membership organisation, charity, campaigning organisation or other purpose-led environment
  • Partnership marketing, sponsorship or member benefits experience
  • Experience with Customer.io, HubSpot or a similar CRM/marketing automation platform
  • Experience contributing to website rebuilds or systems migrations from a marketing and conversion perspective
  • An interest in rural communities and the organisation's wider purpose

WHAT'S ON OFFER

  • £50,000–£55,000 salary, with a recommended appointment salary of £52,000
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Hybrid working
  • Tuesday–Thursday in the London office
  • Monday & Friday working remotely
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Pension scheme
  • Corporate healthcare scheme, including access to GP services, mental health support, physiotherapy and private diagnostics
