- Must-have: Strong Java and Spring Boot, REST API design, enterprise application development, and a strong CI/CD background
- Strongly preferred: Experience building reusable or enterprise platforms used by multiple teams, plus cloud-native architecture (how data is loaded and returned via APIs)
- Nice-to-have, not required: Databricks, Spark, PySpark, and data engineering principles. He said the team can teach data concepts.
- Frontend: A very small percentage of the work. React/TypeScript knowledge is helpful but not required, and a backend-heavy candidate with some frontend exposure is fine.
- Cloud: No specific platform required. They'll likely use AWS and Databricks, but Azure or general cloud fundamentals are acceptable.
- Project type: A brand new platform built from scratch, not a migration
