Role Description The Senior ETL DataStage Developer will design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows using IBM DataStage to support complex data integration and warehousing initiatives. This role will collaborate with data architects, business analysts, and other engineering teams to understand data requirements, build data models, and ensure data quality and performance across multiple systems. Daily responsibilities include analyzing source systems, creating robust ETL mappings, troubleshooting data issues, and performing performance tuning and production support. The position is based in McLean, VA and is intended for local candidates, with a hybrid work arrangement that requires regular on-site presence while allowing some work from home. The role is full-time and involves close coordination with stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions.

Position Overview

Freddie Mac has an exciting opportunity for a Development, Senior to work in the Enterprise BTO department of the Information Technology division. We are seeking a motivated individual to design and develop enhancements to software applications on a DatatStage ETL (11.x). As a member of the IT development team, the Individual would implement software changes and address data related issues. The individual would champion technology and tools changes/improvements that improve delivery processes. Work collaboratively with other open-minded, technology savvy and dedicated agile team members.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop effective solutions to new and existing data reporting requirements and data issues primarily using DataStage.
• Perform root cause analysis and address existing issues.
• Find gaps in the existing processes, constantly improve the processes/procedures, automate manual tasks and provide stability to the applications.
• Participate in analysis of agile user stories; participate in and develop solution based on business requirements and architecture, prototype if necessary, unit test and deploy quality solutions.
• Perform analysis and make code changes to the DataStage ETL and Unix jobs.
• Support applications in production.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent working experience
• At least 10+ years of experience in DataStage (ETL) preferably 11.7, UNIX, shell scripting, ControlM and db2/Sybase/Oracle SQL, Jira, Bitbucket skills.
• Strong analytical and development skills required to troubleshoot issues and develop effective solutions.
• Team player with positive attitude.
• Innovative in providing solutions and likes to take on challenges with calculated risks.
• Strive to constantly improve the application development processes and tools.
• Experience in all aspects of system development life cycle methodologies including agile development
