EIPA score of 3. 5 or higher (4. 0+ preferred, depending on district requirements) RID certification preferred (NIC or equivalent) Active New Mexico licensure or credentials, if required Minimum of 1-2 years of educational or school-based interpreting experience (virtual experience preferred) Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Strong interpersonal, communication, and time-management
Comfortable utilizing virtual platforms and technology
Interpretation Services Provide real-time virtual interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in classroom settings Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during instruction and school-related activities Ensure effective communication access across academic subjects and educational environments Student & Classroom Support Facilitate accurate communication between students, teachers, and peers Adapt interpreting methods based on student needs, language proficiency, and educational settings Promote student independence while maintaining professional boundaries Collaboration & Team Participation Work closely with teachers, DHH educators, and related service providers Participate in virtual IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions as needed Communicate effectively with staff regarding accommodations and student support needs Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate records of services provided, as required by the district Follow all district, state, and federal guidelines for interpreting services Adhere to confidentiality
