The Role

We are looking for a Principal, Client Strategy & National Security Growth* to own a portfolio of Virt clients and drive their growth in the national security market.

You will work directly with founders, executives, and technical teams to shape strategy, engage government stakeholders, identify and qualify opportunities, develop capture plans, and move pursuits toward contract awards and long-term adoption.

This is a senior operator role for someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution, make sound decisions with limited direction, and take ownership of results.

This role is currently structured as a 1099 contractor position.

What You’ll Own

• A portfolio of Virt commercial clients and their overall account performance
• Client retention, growth, and strategic direction
• Government engagement strategy across DoW, Space Force, the Intelligence Community, and other national security organizations
• Opportunity identification, qualification, and capture planning
• Senior-level government and industry engagement
• Funding and acquisition pathways, including SBIR, STTR, OTAs, BAAs, CSOs, and IDIQs
• Executive messaging, proposals, and other high-value client deliverables
• Opportunity pipelines from initial customer engagement through award
• Technology transition strategies that support long-term government adoption
• Clear, measurable progress toward client growth and contract wins

Who We’re Looking For

You understand how the national security market works and how government customers evaluate mission need, funding, risk, technical maturity, and transition.

Strong candidates will bring

• Significant experience with the Department of War and/or Intelligence Community
• Experience in national security space, defense, aerospace, intelligence, or dual-use technology
• Strong knowledge of government acquisition and funding
• Experience engaging senior government leaders, program managers, acquisition professionals, and mission owners
• Demonstrated experience in capture, business development, program strategy, acquisition, or technology transition
• A track record of advancing opportunities from customer engagement through funded contracts
• Strong executive communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to advise founders and senior leadership teams
• A high degree of ownership, judgment, initiative, and accountability
