The Opportunity

We are seeking a .NET Developer to help convert our WinForms desktop application into a web application built with C#, ASP.NET MVC and Bootstrap. You will bring existing screens and features to the web, matching the behaviour customers rely on while building responsive pages and maintaining a clean MVC architecture.

For each screen, you will be expected to understand the current functionality, produce a design, get feedback from the web team, then develop, test and deliver it. AI tools such as Claude Code will be provided; however, you will need to have the requisite understanding of the technologies involved.

Employment Type: Fixed-term, full-time

Contract Duration: 6 / 12 months, with the possibility of a permanent role

Job Type: Hybrid (3 days in the office and 2 days at home)

Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Web migration: Convert WinForms screens and features to the web, matching existing behaviour.
• Web development: Build responsive pages using ASP.NET MVC, Razor, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Application architecture: Keep controllers thin and place logic in the right layer, including view models, services and data access.
• Database development: Write and optimise SQL Server queries and stored procedures.
• Code quality: Review code and work closely with QA, support and product colleagues.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong C# and .NET development experience.
• ASP.NET MVC experience, including controllers, Razor views, view models, routing and validation.
• A sound understanding of MVC separation of concerns and what belongs in controllers, view models, services and data access.
• Experience with Bootstrap, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• SQL Server and T-SQL experience.
• Experience using Azure DevOps.
• A keen eye for detail, clear communication, collaborative working and ownership of your work.

Desirable Experience

• Experience migrating WinForms or other desktop applications to the web.
• Experience with ASP.NET Core.
• Knowledge of rental, hire or ERP software and business processes.
