The Marketing Technology Manager serves as a key connection between Marketing and Technology, responsible for operating and optimizing AARP’s marketing technology ecosystem to deliver personalized, data-driven digital marketing experiences. Working with existing platforms, applications, legacy systems, web interfaces, and emerging technologies, this role helps identify and implement solutions that address evolving marketing and customer needs. Working closely with Business, Marketing, Digital Experience, Data, and Technology teams, the Marketing Technology Manager translates business and marketing needs into technology requirements and scalable solutions. The role supports the implementation, enhancement, and ongoing management of enterprise MarTech platforms to drive business outcomes. This role works extensively with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), personalization technologies, and customer engagement capabilities. The Marketing Technology Manager guides platforms and solutions throughout their lifecycle—from identifying needs and defining requirements through implementation, testing, adoption, measurement, and ongoing optimization. The role works directly with platforms and systems while partnering with technical teams on architecture, development, integration, and support. This position combines marketing knowledge, product management, and technology expertise. The manager works to understand how marketers use technology to engage audiences, improve customer experiences, and achieve measurable business results, while collaborating across a highly matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manages technology projects and collaborates with cross-functional teams to determine resources needed and responsibly stewards them, tracks progress against established timelines, plans for and supports adoption through stakeholder engagement and training coordination. Collaborates across teams during the discovery phase to assess value, usability, and feasibility and organizational impact of enhancement concept and experience.
  • Provides strategic guidance on the department's technology roadmap and manages the process of designing and implementing improvements and new functionality in technology applications.
  • Creates product strategies and roadmaps based on a deep understanding of the product technology stack, department goals and consumer needs.. Leads technical engagements utilizing an agile planning and development methodology.
  • Acts as a business liaison with technology and vendors and support end users through coordinated communication, training and rollout activities. Provides counsel to other business units in the execution of technology initiatives and digital engagement. Collaborates with stakeholders to identify opportunities to streamline technology processes that support the business unit. Engages with internal and external vendor teams to establish priorities, manage work requests, and ensure on-time delivery of enhancements.
  • Gathers an in-depth understanding of the enterprise's technical landscape, data management practices, workflows, and data available across the enterprise. Advises on data accuracy and integration best practices, as needed.
  • Defines and translates strategic business ideas into technical product implementations utilizing actionable, digestible user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring all organizational, regulatory, and strategic compliance requirements and objectives are met.
  • Utilizes technology to advance AARP and organizational priorities.. Serves as a resource within their business unit on appropriate tools/software and shares expertise openly and accessibly to advance business unit priorities and projects and to meet critical goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Marketing Technology, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of related experience specifically in marketing technology (MarTech), digital experience, enterprise application, or business technology initiatives.
  • Advanced experience and skill level with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), including implementation, administration, optimization, and support of enterprise digital experiences.
  • Experience leveraging personalization technologies, customer engagement platforms, customer data platforms, or similar solutions to deliver personalized digital experiences.
  • Experience with enterprise data and customer platforms such as Palantir Foundry, Salesforce, or comparable technologies.

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
