Senior Java Full Stack Developer
Location: Bethesda, MD / Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and self-driven Senior Java Full Stack Developer to support enterprise hospitality systems for Marriott International at their technology headquarters in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and modernizing scalable microservices and dynamic user interfaces powering global guest experiences, digital booking, and platform integrations.
You will work closely with product owners, UX designers, and cross-functional engineering teams in an Agile delivery environment to write clean, maintainable code and maintain resilient cloud architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Development: Design, build, and maintain high-volume, event-driven web applications and microservices using Java 17/21 (Spring Boot) on the backend and React.js/Angular on the frontend.
- API & Integration Engineering: Build secure RESTful web services, gRPC endpoints, and manage API integrations using API Gateway platforms.
- Database & Messaging Architecture: Design scalable relational and NoSQL database solutions (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis) and integrate real-time event streaming via Apache Kafka.
- Cloud & DevOps: Containerize applications using Docker and Kubernetes for deployment on AWS/GCP cloud infrastructure, leveraging CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Harness).
- UI/UX Optimization: Create responsive Single Page Applications (SPAs) with state management (Redux/NgRx), optimizing front-end performance for complex datasets and high concurrent traffic.
- Quality & Performance: Drive Test-Driven Development (TDD) using JUnit, Mockito, and automated UI testing tools; debug production issues using observability platforms like Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Agile Collaboration: Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, pull request reviews, and system architecture sessions.
Required Technical Skills
- Java Backend: 6+ years of experience in Java (Java 11/17/21), Core Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, and Hibernate.
- Frontend Development: 3+ years of experience building web applications using React.js, Angular, TypeScript, ES6+, HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap/Material UI.
- Microservices & Messaging: Deep expertise in Microservices Architecture, REST APIs, GraphQL, and event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka or AWS SNS/SQS.
- Cloud & Containers: Hands-on experience with AWS (S3, EKS, ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB) or GCP, along with Docker and Kubernetes container orchestration.
- Databases: Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis Cache).
- Monitoring & Tooling: Familiarity with Git, Maven, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Splunk, and Dynatrace.
