The Role.

The Head of Marketing will lead En Route's global marketing strategy, driving brand growth, commercial performance and customer engagement across international markets. As a key member of the leadership team, this role will ensure that marketing is positioned as a strategic enabler of business growth, enhancing En Route's reputation, market position and competitive advantage within the global airline and travel catering industry.

Leading the Marketing Manager and Communications Manager, the Head of Marketing will develop and execute integrated marketing, communications, brand, digital and content strategies that deliver measurable commercial outcomes. Working closely with Commercial, Customer Strategy, Creative, Category Development and senior leadership teams, the role will ensure all marketing activity is insight-led, data-driven and aligned to the company's strategic objectives.

This is an influential leadership position that will champion innovation, embed best practice and leverage emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance marketing effectiveness, strengthen customer relationships and position En Route as the partner of choice for airlines and travel operators worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver En Route's global marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives, customer engagement goals and long-term business growth plans.
  • Lead the planning, execution and optimisation of integrated marketing campaigns across brand, digital, content, PR, exhibitions and customer communications.
  • Own and evolve the En Route brand strategy, ensuring consistent positioning, differentiation and brand excellence across all customer touchpoints and international markets.
  • Translate customer insights, market intelligence and commercial priorities into targeted marketing initiatives that deliver measurable business value.
  • Develop and lead the corporate communications strategy, increasing share of voice, enhancing industry reputation and building thought leadership through PR, media relations and executive profiling.
  • Drive digital marketing performance across websites, social media, email marketing and emerging channels, continually improving engagement and lead generation.
  • Manage and optimise marketing budgets to maximise return on investment and ensure resources are deployed effectively.
  • Champion marketing innovation, continuous improvement and the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI, to improve efficiency, effectiveness and customer experience.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Marketing Manager and Communications Manager, building a high-performing, collaborative and commercially focused marketing function.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to deliver integrated initiatives that support strategic priorities and commercial success.
  • Act as the senior marketing adviser to the SMT and ELT, providing expert guidance on brand strategy, communications, customer engagement and market positioning.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, media partners and suppliers to ensure delivery of high-quality, cost-effective marketing activity.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, creativity, innovation and continuous learning within the marketing function.
  • Support and mentor colleagues across the organisation in marketing best practice, customer engagement and effective communication.

Practical & Technical Knowledge.

  • Proven expertise in developing and delivering strategic B2B marketing programmes across international markets.
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy, positioning, customer engagement and integrated marketing communications.
  • Experience creating marketing strategies that directly support revenue growth, customer retention and key account development.
  • Extensive knowledge of digital marketing disciplines, including content marketing, social media, CRM, marketing automation and website optimisation.
  • Experience leading PR, media relations, corporate communications, thought leadership and executive profiling initiatives.
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret customer insights, market research and campaign performance data to inform decision making.
  • Commercially astute, with experience managing budgets, evaluating ROI and demonstrating marketing's contribution to business performance.
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled marketing tools, emerging technologies and evolving digital marketing trends.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong project management, planning and organisational capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Experience.

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Marketing, Business, Communications or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience leading and developing marketing teams within a global B2B organisation.
  • Demonstrable success in developing and implementing strategic, commercially driven marketing programmes that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience managing integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns across international markets.
  • Strong track record of managing marketing budgets, external agencies and third-party suppliers.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, build strong cross-functional relationships and drive organisational alignment.
  • Experience using marketing analytics, performance reporting and customer insights to optimise investment and demonstrate business impact.
  • Experience operating within complex, customer-focused industries, ideally within travel, aviation, hospitality, food service or related sectors.
