Join our Online Data Services Team at JBA Risk Management Limited!
Are you a talented Python software developer passionate about making a real impact? At JBA Risk Management, we’re trailblazers in flood-related data, models and services. Join us to shape the future of online data delivery and support better decisions across global re/insurance, property and public sectors.
Our team has adopted a hybrid working approach with some requirement to work both from home and in the office. We supply equipment to support this. You will need to be in the Skipton office a minimum of 3 days a week.
We are independent and staff-owned under a stewardship model which drives long term decision making and investment. We support hybrid working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work.
We have an ambitious multi-year plan to transform how we deliver our data and insights. As a Full Stack Web Developer, you’ll join a growing team of software developers as we deliver our web-based data delivery strategy. You’ll help extend and improve cloud-based APIs and client applications that provide hazard maps and flood-risk data to organizations around the world.
Our backend systems make use of AWS serverless technologies, with Python as our main programming language. For our user-facing applications, we use Django and Vue.js. You’ll contribute to the development of our flood visualisation and analysis software, JBA Vision, and our flood-risk APIs, helping transform complex environmental data into accessible, reliable services.
As a key member of the team, you’ll collaborate with software developers, software testers, flood-risk experts, data scientists and other technical specialists. From gathering requirements and contributing to technical discussions through to developing, testing and deploying production-ready code, you’ll be involved throughout the software development lifecycle.
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of software development, cloud technology, geospatial data and climate science, while helping build services that support better decisions about flood risk.
We are looking for an inquisitive and curious software developer who enjoys learning, solving problems and contributing to innovative projects. You’ll be a collaborative team player who values diverse perspectives, open communication and knowledge sharing. You take pride in writing high-quality software, applying good development practices and delivering reliable solutions.
We welcome people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Whether you meet every requirement or are developing your skills in some areas, we encourage you to apply if you are passionate about Python and excited by the opportunity to learn, contribute and grow with the team.
We need an experienced software developer with a strong track record of developing and delivering software in a commercial environment. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related subject is desirable, but equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
This full-time role will be in our modern, eco-friendly office at Broughton Park, near Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 3FD.
